BRIEF TWO - RESULTS

Today we had a morning briefing with the team behind Something More design studio, in which they revealed the overall winner of the 'The Ministry of Wonderful' in college live brief that was set earlier in the year. 

To my surprise, I was named as the overall winner of the brief and consequently was awarded with the wonderful scepter and sash displayed below. Furthermore, additional to the beauty queen style merchandise I was also awarded with a two week work placement at the Something More studios, something which is simultaneously exciting and beneficial to my design practice.

BRIEF TWO - DSM - WORKSHOP ONE

Today, the founders of new, multidisciplinary design studio 'Do Something More' came in and gave a short, informative talk about their journey through the industry, what drove them to start the studio and what they want their company to achieve. I found the talk really interesting as it was good to hear about their journey and their thoughts on brand identities, an area of design that forms a large part of my focus as a designer. 

After the talk, the pair set us an in studio brief that will be completed over the next few weeks. Notes from the talk and specific information important to the brief are both listed below;

SERVICE;

As part of the brief each student was given an existing service which will be rethought and improved as part of the project. Services were picked randomly from a hat to ensure that the service chosen was a completely random selection. 

The services available as part of the brief were;

• Water.
• Recycling.
• Library.
• Retirement home.
• Train operator.
• City council. 

From the choices available I selected 'Library' from the hat, and so this is the service I will improve as part of the project.
